Dubai Taxi and Bolt Partner to Launch New E-Mobility Platform in Dubai

Dubai Taxi Corporation is advancing Dubai’s strategy to become a global leader in quality of life and a preferred destination for living, working, and visiting, according to Mansour Rahma Al Falasi, CEO of Dubai Taxi.

The corporation is committed to enhancing customer experience by offering advanced transport services aligned with international standards, strengthening Dubai’s position as a global hub for sustainable urban mobility.

In this context, Dubai Taxi has launched several initiatives and signed agreements to further develop its services. Among these initiatives is the integration of regular taxi services into the new Bolt ride-hailing app, set to launch in Q1 2025. The partnership with Estonian ride-hailing company Bolt aims to introduce a new e-mobility platform, positioning it as a competitor to existing ride-hailing services in Dubai.

Al Falasi stated: “We are working with our colleagues at the Roads and Transport Authority to offer taxi services via the app… We are focusing exclusively on the UAE, specifically Dubai. If Bolt wants to expand outside the UAE and seek partners, we are open to it, and the company welcomes more partnerships in ride-hailing.”

As part of Dubai’s strategy to become the world’s leading tourist city, Dubai Taxi plans to introduce luxury limousine rentals and test them with customers. If market response is positive, the service could be further developed. Luxury black limousines, including electric and hybrid models, are also expected to launch in London by the end of the year as a VIP mobility concept, reflecting Bolt’s innovative approach.

Since its official launch on UAE National Day (December 2, 2024), the Bolt platform has gained rapid traction, attracting around 12,000 drivers and 160 limousine companies into its network, fully integrating with Dubai Taxi’s fleet. This rapid expansion positions Bolt as a leading digital mobility provider in the UAE.

Bolt’s international presence spans over 600 cities in more than 50 countries across five continents. Valued at €7.4 billion (USD 7.7 billion) in its latest 2022 funding round, the company offers diverse mobility solutions, including ride-hailing, food and grocery delivery, e-scooter and bike rentals, short-term car rentals, and limousine services.

To facilitate this technological partnership, Dubai Taxi established a wholly-owned subsidiary, Connected, to serve as a tech partner. The agreement also aligns with the Roads and Transport Authority’s vision to convert 80% of taxi trips to online booking in the coming years.

This partnership aims to expand Bolt’s presence to other emirates and sectors, supporting Dubai’s vision for a smart and sustainable city, while fostering innovation and environmental responsibility — reflecting the city’s ethos of combining innovation with new opportunities.
