She is a prominent Emirati woman in recent years, not only as a “Professor of Human Resource Management,” nor merely because she is the Chief Human Resources Officer at Ducab, but because she possesses a strong personality that has had a significant impact on all the institutions she has worked with.
Mrs. Mona Fikri has played a key role in selecting managerial talents at Ducab, TECOM, Emirates Airlines, Al-Futtaim Group, and other major organizations and companies. This distinction, however, is the result of nearly 27 years of dedicated work, leading to important successes that brought her to her current position at a large organization like Ducab.
Mona Fikri reflects on her beginnings and how she built her expertise: “I have gained 27 years of experience in the field of human resources. I joined Ducab Group in 2014. I can say that this role is one that serves both employees’ interests and the company’s. This department always works to balance the interests and welfare of employees with those of the organization by establishing frameworks for employee relationships with the institution in accordance with regulations.”
She believes in cumulative experience and considers that progress and excellence in any field come from several elements: a passion for one’s work, the desire to learn and develop oneself, adherence to core work principles, being present at the workplace, delivering high-quality work, and supporting a strong team, which is crucial in any department.
After nearly 27 years of work, Fikri’s ambitions remain focused on having opportunities to contribute and achieve in life, being an active participant rather than a passive observer.
She highlights that one of the main challenges in human resource management is that employees often view matters from a personal perspective, whereas managers must consider personal circumstances within the framework of rules and regulations. She emphasizes that the HR department always follows the law, and any exceptions must be applicable fairly to all employees. The system applies to everyone, and exceptions should also be consistent—something that not all employees may realize.
I have heard much about Mrs. Mona Fikri and her virtues from colleagues at Ducab. Each time, I am impressed by her knowledge, calm demeanor, and dignity. I often bow in respect when seeing her enter Ducab conferences—elegant, composed, and highly respected. I have always appreciated her status and history, knowing she has been and will continue to be a source of admiration and respect for her generation. I pray for her longevity, continued contributions, and enduring position of influence.
