Chinese Company Develops Human-Like Robot

A Chinese company called Astribot has unveiled an AI-powered robot that closely resembles humans, raising concerns among scientists due to its uncanny ability to mimic human movements and emotions.

Based in Shenzhen, Astribot has been developing the robot for a year, according to its website, and hopes to make it commercially available later this year, as reported by the British newspaper The Sun.

The robot, known as S1, is significantly faster and stronger than an average human. It can perform movements at speeds of up to 10 meters per second and handle loads of 10 kilograms per arm. For comparison, a human adult male can reach speeds of around 7 meters per second. This incredible speed allows the robot to perform tasks like pulling a cloth from under a column of juice glasses without toppling them—a feat only a few humans could accomplish.

The company also mentioned that robots like S1 could play a role in China’s ongoing technological competition with the United States, with sources in Beijing suggesting that human-like robots may soon enter ordinary households.

S1 is a two-armed robot that appears relatively stable compared to other humanoid machines seen previously. Earlier this month, the company demonstrated…
